It's that time of year! Join Cake Plus-Size Resale for our annual Fat Splash Pool Parties! (Fat summer fun since 2018!)

This year, Cake Plus-Size Resale is hosting two Fat Splash events: July 6th and July 20th at Sabes JCC Minneapolis. We’ll have private access to large indoor and outdoor pool spaces complete with a water slide!

We’re also excited to have a series of partners making this party really special including DJ Luma Notti (Jul 6), DJ Darling Nicque (Jul 20), LINC Permanent Jewelry, Nina Perkins, Cassandra Snow Tarot, + Witch Way Tarot! Plus, the Subversive Sirens will be with us for a Splash Mob!! This year, we’re also including some optional activities for folks to enjoy including a cannon ball contest. 

This event is by and for fat folks. If you feel like this event is for you, we want you there! Read more below!

WHEN: Saturday July 6th from 6-9pm + Sunday July 20th from 6-9pm

We have rain dates set for the Sunday after each event, July 7 and July 21. 

WHAT: A fat pool party!

Three hours of fat fun in the sun (or shade) at this private fat community event! Come alone or with friends, reconnect with pals, meet new folks, and see some Cake familiar faces! 

We have DJs with music all night! (On July 6th, we’ll have Luma Notti and, on July 20th, we’ll have returning DJ Darling Nicque.) Nina Perkins will be our photographer again this year and all guests will get access to photos after Fat Splash. And, vendors… including LINC Permanent Jewelry offering precious metal permanent jewelry, Cassandra Snow Tarot, and Witch Way Tarot. Slots for these vendors will fill up quickly so if you’re interested, plan on getting to the Fat Splash right away! Plus, the Subversive Sirens will be with us on Saturday, July 20th for a Splash Mob. (Folks who joined us in 2019 may remember this .) 

Refreshments: Cake’s providing light refreshments (chips, pretzels), soda, and water. You’re also welcome to bring snacks and drinks. (No alcohol. No glass!!)

WHERE: JCC Sabes Center Minneapolis located at 4330 Cedar Lk Rd S, Minneapolis, MN 55416. (Technically in St. Louis Park!)

We’ve been at this venue for several years and love it! For this event, we’ve rented the entire outdoor and indoor pool area - it is exclusively ours for the evening. The space includes a huge parking lot, lifeguards, a water slide and diving board, lawn chairs, gendered locker rooms, and gender neutral restrooms. The pool deck has lawn chairs, some picnic tables, and we’ll also have our Cake high weight capacity folding chairs. You’re welcome to bring your own outdoor chair if you’d like! 

Pool accessibility includes an indoor pool lift and an outdoor pool lift, if needed. Guests will enter our event on the outside of the building. This entrance does not require any stairs. The only stairs inside the space are into the pool.

WHO: Fat folks!

Fat Splashes are fat community events. It's our expectation that everyone in attendance is part of the fat community or is attending as a guest/friend/partner of someone who is. (Fat folks, only bring your non-fat friends if you know they’ll be respectful and affirming in this space! <3) This is an 18+ event. Folks of all genders are invited to take part in this event!  

TICKET INFO + POLICIES: 

• Tickets are $44 (55.04 with taxes and fees). 

• All ticket sales are final.

• If we need to reschedule due to extreme weather, we will do so by 6PM the night before each event. Rain dates are Sunday 7/7 and Sunday 7/21, respectively. Because there are indoor and outdoor pools, predictions of overcast weather or light rain will likely not result in use of a rain date. 

• If you are unable to attend you are welcome to transfer your tickets via Eventbrite’s website/app. 

• Tickets are available via Eventbrite only. Tickets are not available in-store or on Cake’s website. 

• By purchasing tickets, you assume your own risk and liability of attending this event and agree to hold Cake Plus-Size Resale, the JCC, and all those involved with the Fat Splash harmless.

HEALTH + COVID THOUGHTFULNESS: 

Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been thoughtful about community care. (As you know, we still require masks inside our small shop.) While masks will not be required at this event, we wanted to loop you in to some of our thoughts around minimizing risk at the Fat Splashes: 

• The event space capacity is 377 people. We are capping both events at 200 guests. (Just over half of the max capacity.) 

• This venue offers indoor and outdoor pool options. 

• Masks are welcome outside of the pool. (The JCC let us know that CDC guidelines dictate that no masks inside of the pool.) 

• If you’re not feeling well, please do not come. Our team will abide by the same commitment. 

If these guidelines don’t feel right for you, we understand if you won’t be able to join us. 

EVENT GUIDELINES + REMINDERS: 

• No alcohol or drug use. 

• Outside food and drink is welcome. Pool rules dictate that no glass containers are allowed! 

• This is an 18+ event.

• Clean up after yourselves and each other.

• Be respectful of the space and each other. 

• Be responsive and respectful to lifeguards and their instructions. 

• We reserve the right to ask you to leave if you’re not in line with these necessary guidelines. 

• Stay hydrated! Stay sunscreen’ed! Take care of yourself in this environment!
